Why isn’t NouTube on Google Play?
NouTube is published by its developer on GitHub and F-Droid, not on Google Play.
Is NouTube safe?
NouTube is open source under the AGPL-3.0 license, and you can get the APK straight from the developer's GitHub releases page or install it from F-Droid. It works by wrapping m.youtube.com and music.youtube.com in an Android webview and injecting code to block ads and enable background playback, so it needs normal webview/internet permissions to function. The developer notes they are not affiliated with any ".org" YouTube-related websites.</safe>
<parameter name="before"> NouTube comes straight from its developer rather than through Google Play, so it hasn’t gone through Google’s app review. As with any app, check the permissions it asks for and install it if you’re comfortable with them.
